First-time joint presentation by the Polish capital
Laser Optics Berlin from 19 to 21 March 2012
Berlin , 30 September 2011 – Next year the Polish capital Warsaw will take part in Laser Optics Berlin for the
first time with a comprehensive joint presentation. This was announced by Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, President of the City of Warsaw ,
in a letter to Harald Wolf, Senator for Economics and Mayor of Berlin. “Laser Optics 2012 will give companies and scientists from Warsaw an excellent
opportunity to showcase their potential for developing new technologies“, the letter says.
It adds that the market for optical
technologies is among the areas in which knowledge transfer between science and business is most effective, and one in which Warsaw is developing very
quickly. Pioneers in this field include the Technical Military Academy in Warsaw, the university, the polytechnic and the Medical University of
Warsaw. Ms. Gronkiewicz-Waltz: “The results to date of our cooperation with Berlin have strengthened my conviction that Berlin is one of Warsaw’s most
important partners. I will continue to give my full support to every new area of our cooperation.”
Joint presentation by the
Polish capital
During the international trade fair from 19 to 21 March 2012, together with Berlin and its local region the city of
Warsaw will host a joint presentation. Among the events planned during the fair are meetings with representatives of business, science and politics
from the Berlin/Brandenburg region. The joint preparations are to be launched in November at a “Warsaw business lunch“ in Berlin. With the support of
TSB Innovationsagentur Berlin GmbH meetings will be taking place between research facilities from Warsaw and companies with industry representatives
from the Berlin/Brandenburg region.
Cooperation with Warsaw to continue after Laser Optics
“Laser Optics
Berlin 2012 is an excellent opportunity to build on our long-standing cooperation with companies, institutes and universities from Warsaw“, said
Dr. Helge Neumann, head of the international offices of Wista Management GmbH , which operates Germany’s largest technology park in
Berlin-Adlershof. “We are offering our partners from Warsaw comprehensive support and assistance ahead of Laser Optics Berlin 2012 and will continue
to do so after the event. Thus there will already be meetings in November between institutes from Warsaw and companies and research facilities from
Berlin/Brandenburg.“
OpTecBB, a regional network of expertise, is instrumental in supporting this exchange of knowledge. Dr. Bernd Weidner,
managing director of OpTecBB: “The region around Warsaw has major research and technology capabilities. Institutes from Warsaw participating in the
fair will provide an opportunity to intensify cooperation with our facilities. As close neighbours everyone involved should take a keen interest in
setting up new projects and partnerships as well as in developing closer trade relations.”
Berlin/Brandenburg – where business
and technology meet
With its unique concentration of expertise, Berlin/Brandenburg has become one of Germany’s leading growth regions
for optical technology. Thus, according to TSB Innovationsagentur Berlin GmbH some 400 companies and research facilities representing the optical
technology and microsystems industries are located in the Berlin/Brandenburg region. Combined, they employ a workforce of 13,000. Turnover is close to
2 billion euros. With science and industry in such close proximity to one another the region features an outstanding industry network.
