The 3 main topics where:

  • High-Intensity Lasers and High Field Phenomena (HILAS)
  • International Conference on Ultrafast Structural Dynamics
  • Quantum Information and Measurement (QIM)

microsys berlin congress

As a combination of exhibition and lecture program the event 2012 broke new ground in terms of content and structure: For the first time it took place parallel to Laser Optics Berlin. Its new focus was on the presentation of fields of application shared by optical technologies and microsystems technology.

The topics of the convention where the following:

  • LED Packaging & System Integration
  • Photonic Components and Packaging
  • Optical Measurement Technology

Testimonials 2012

Elizabeth A. Rogan, CEO, OSA - the Optical Society of America: “We are very satisfied with our new Optics and Photonics Congress, held in partnership with the Laser Optics Berlin 2012 trade fair. With over 350 delegates from around the world, the sessions were well attended and held contributions from all of the leading groups in these fields. In terms of technical organisation, Messe Berlin’s support was a good match for this meeting. The many comments from congress attendees as regards the event venue and the city were positive. Berlin is a good location. It is central, convenient and a highly respected technological centre. We would love to come back in 2014.”

Dr. Adolf M. Kopp, Managing Director, TSB Innovationsagentur Berlin: “The tenth Laser Optics was a complete success. By combining the trade fair, congress and forums, and by holding them with microsys for the first time there was a wealth on offer over the three days. I was also delighted with the level of international attendance, with the first-time participation of the Optical Society of America, and with the partnership with Warsaw, which from a business point of view very much stimulated relations between our two cities”

Prof. Dr. Zhu Xiao, President of the Wuhan Laser Association of the Optics Valley of China: “Laser Optics Berlin presented a good opportunity for our members who were in search of partnerships with medium-sized companies.
The fact that system integrators from China and component manufacturers from Germany were able to meet produced a genuine win-win situation. At the Sino-German laser technology workshop on Thursday companies from Wuhan and Berlin will sign a letter of intent. We see good opportunities for strategic cooperation on laser technology between our two countries.”

Michael Kneier, Vice President Sales & Marketing, eagleyard Photonics GmbH: “Our expectations were exceeded in every way. For example, we had customers from abroad who came to the fair just to visit us. We were able to make use of the platform that Laser Optics Berlin offers to meet these customers and other partners as well.”

Prof. Dr. Günter Tränkle, Director of the Ferdinand-Braun Institute and CEO of OpTecBB: “At 3,000 trade visitors, there was a further increase in attendance at the fair, which increasingly is also attracting experts from abroad. In particular, combining the exhibition with the OSA Congress was the right decision, and it has made the fair a major industry meeting place.“

Dr. Jürgen Paetow, Managing Director, JP-ProteQ: “We are a relatively new company and were at Laser Optics Berlin for the first time. It was a very exciting experience for us. All three days were different. On the first day we met customers, on the second the focus was on cooperation and strategies, and on the third it was on young people.”

Sebastian Wolansky, Technical Sales, Astro- und Feinwerktechnik Adlershof GmbH: “We met a lot of people, mostly trade visitors from Germany representing both institutes and companies. One such interesting meeting took place with the Technology Transfer Working Group of the Federal Institute of Physical and Technical Affairs, which may well result in cooperation between us. We were delighted that many students aiming to do diploma work with us specifically came to visit us on our stand.”

Jürgen Fährenbacher, Area Sales Manager, Physik Instrumente (PI) GmbH & Co. KG: “The increase in international attendance at Laser Optics was a positive surprise. The cooperation with the OSA Congress was undoubtedly a bonus for the trade fair. We welcome the combination of Laser Optics and microsys as we have products related to both fields.”

Dr. Rüdiger Grunwald, Scientific Assistant, Max-Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy, Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V.: : “Laser Optics Berlin went even better for us than in previous years, as regards both attendance and the number of people we met. The OSA Congress also had a positive effect and attracted additional numbers of experts to the fair. The high level of interest expressed by schoolchildren and students was also very satisfying.”

Dr. Carsten Domann, Project Supervisor, Enterprise Europe Network, TSB Innovationsagentur Berlin GmbH : “Overall, we were very satisfied with the international joint venture exchange, at which we were able to welcome around 70 participants. The focus was on our neighbours Poland.”

Marcus Heimann, Scientific Assistant, Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM : “We had several interesting meetings with industry partners and research institutes. Over the course of the two Student Days we had promising talks with keen applicants.”

Dorothee Mayrhofer, Division Head Photonics, wirth+partner consultancy group : “The number of people interested in our career coaching grows every year. All available dates for our consultancy were booked up. Fortunately, Laser Optics Berlin has two Student Days.”
