Laser Optics Berlin 2012 was surrounded by a very widespread accompanying programm. Below you can find all events at a glance.

OSA Optics and Photonics Congress

One important pillar of Laser Optics Berlin 2012 was the scientific-technical OSA Optics and Photonics Congress. It has been organized by OSA - The Optical Society - and replaced very successfully the regular Laser Optics Congress. The following topics where offered:

High-Intensity Lasers and High-Field Phenomena (HILAS)
Quantum Information and Measurement (QIM)
International Conference on Ultrafast Structural Dynamics (ICUSD)

microsys berlin Congress

Since 2001 microsys Berlin - micro-optics and micro-optical systems - has successfully presented the fascinating developments in microsystems technology.

As a combination of exhibition and lecture program the event broke new ground in 2012 and took place in parallel to Laser Optics Berlin. Its new focus was on the presentation of fields of application shared by optical technologies and microsystems technology.

This focus makes microsys Berlin - formerly μSys - a true first on the German trade fair market.

Eduction Forum

Berlin is one of the most important centres for optical technologies and microsystems technology. Many companies and research institutions have been established here and are looking for skilled workers and academics! People who choose a career in these fields have the opportunity to choose between many different and exciting jobs - whether they choose to start out with job training or follow an academic career.

Laser Optics Berlin 2012 demonstrated in many examples how a career in these industries could look like. A lot of information about training opportunities and study programs have been provided.

a) Student's Days - 19 and 20 March 2012

With its interesting and diversified program the student`s days attracted almost 170 students from all over Germany.

Students could make use of professional consultations of the agency wirth + partner in terms of strategies for applications or career opportunities. The career center at Laser Optics offered a jobboard with current vacancies.

Furthermore it was possible to:

talk to international researchers and companies
present project papers or thesis within the poster sessions
take part in panel discussions with experts from HR departments, industry representatives and job starters

b) Pupil's Day - 21 March 2012

478 pupils made use of this event with its vivid lectures, discussions and personal talks to experience more about the several professions in the field of optical technologies. Under the slogan "from pupils for pupils" different exciting experiments where demonstrated by pupils. 17 classes took part in a competition to give proof of their professional knowledge. The two victory classes will be awarded during the "Night of the Companies" in Berlin on 23 May 2012.

c) Career Center with jobboard

For all interested applicants as well as all exhibitors seeking for employees there was a career center including jobboard provided by the wirth + partner consultancy group.

Both the jobboard which was available to the exhibitors to present themselfes to experienced engineers, natural scientists and young professionals as well as the career coachings where of very high interest for visitors.

Dorothee Mayrhofer, Division Head Photonics, wirth + partner consultancy group confirmed: “The number of people interested in our career coaching grows every year. All available dates for our consultancy were booked up. Fortunately, Laser Optics Berlin has two Student Days.”
